The gyaru creed - often referred to as "gyaru mind" - is an unapologetic philosophy of individuality, confidence, and rebellion against restrictive social and beauty standards. While there is no single way to be a gyaru, the core of the gyaru mindset can be broken down into five guiding principles:

• Unapologetic Self-Expression: Rejecting "safety in sameness." Gyaru is about embracing bold fashion, dramatic makeup, and vibrant energy because it makes you happy, not because it fits societal expectations.
• Rebellion Against Conformity: Standing up to strict, traditional societal norms. It is about having a headstrong, free-spirited, and loud personality that refuses to be small or subservient in nature.
• Fierce Independence: The belief that you are the author of your own life. Whether it's pursuing a career or navigating daily life, the focus is on acting for yourself and nobody else!
• Sisterhood and Community: The subculture is built on unity and connection. Historically rooted in "gal circles" (groups that hang out, shop, and dance together), it encourages mutual empowerment and hyping each other up.
• Constant Evolution: Adapting with the times. Gyarus are always looking to level up their lives and be the best versions of themselves they can be!
