Product Description
This Hobkin and Dogkin package is a community supported project for Hobbert's original Hobkin and Dogkin models. The package included in this download is fully up to date, using the newest versions of the VRC Avatar SDK, Poiyomi, and VRCFury. Please use the VRChat Creator Companion to create a project for this package, using the Unity 2022 Avatars preset.
If you have any questions or problems with the package please message me on discord at "wolfy_527"
Please check out Hobbert's Gumroad or Patreon to support him directly for the models!
The project includes custom expressions, locomotion, VRCFury support primarily assembled by Lakesgeek, which have been modified and updated by me, Wolfy_527.
The Hobkin in this package has been updated from Lakesgeek's original package by me to support a larger variety of clothing through the addition of new blendshapes and support for UV tile discard using Poiyomi shaders.
These models are initially a "Good" rating on PC as a basis to build upon and have Quest versions as well.
Packages
Here is a list of the packages used for this project that I would highly recommend you add to any new project you create for this Hobkin and Dogkin package. Please use the shown versions or newer for your project.
When modifications and updates are made to the project and model(s) I will make sure the installed versions for all of these packages are as up-to-date as possible so you can keep your own projects updated without the worry of packages conflicting or not working correctly. I would highly encourage you to occassionally go to the "Manage Project" section to keep these packages updated for yourself too.
Instructions
- Install and open the VRChat Creator Companion from the VRChat website or documentation.
- Create a new Avatars 2022 project.
- Install all of the previously mentioned packages from above using the same or newest versions available.
- VRCFury is REQUIRED in this project.
- Once all of the packages are imported, open the project and import the "Community Edit Hobkin and Dogkin" package into the project.
- If you have any issues on the initial import of the package with scripts not appearing, close the project and open it again. If prompted about opening in "Safe Mode" you can ignore this prompt and open the project normally.
- Locate the "01 Open Me Community Edit" scene and open it.
- This scene has the Hobkin, Dogkin, and Kid Hobkin, as well as their Quest counterparts all ready to upload via the VRChat SDK window.
Customization
Materials
All materials are under the "01 Customise your textures here" folder. There are 3 different versions of the materials: Poiyomi, Quest, and Quest Unlit. Please drop your textures into these materials and make your changes to them as the project utilizes functions in Poiyomi I have already set up. If you use your own material, some of this functionality may be lost and you will have to set it up yourself! The materials using Poiyomi shaders will need to be unlocked when you go to edit them.
Hoodie
The Hobkin and Dogkin (excluding the Kid Hobkin) have the option to put a short-sleeve hoodie on the avatar. You can find this hoodie under "Assets/02 VRCFury customisations/3. Misc (Clothing, accessories, anims etc)" labeled as "Hobkin and Dogkin Hoodie (Short Sleeves) PC" for the PC version and "Hobkin and Dogkin Hoodie (Short Sleeves) Quest" for Quest.
Drag and drop the prefab onto the avatar under the "3. Misc (Clothing, accessories, anims etc)" game object contained under the "VRCFury" game object on the avatar in the hierarchy.
If you want to customize the material and textures for the hoodie, all of the assets are located under "Assets/02 VRCFury customisations/0. Supporting Files/Hoodie Files" where you can find the animations, controllers, and textures.
Locomotion and Expressions
To replace or remove GogoLoco from the avatar, navigate to the "VRCFury" game object (as seen in the picture above) and then to the "1. Base choice" game object and delete the current prefab contained under it. If you are wanting to remove GogoLoco, you're done, otherwise navigate to the "Assets/02 VRCFury customisations/1. Base choice" folder and drop in the specific prefab you would like. If you replace the current prefab with a different one on PC, make sure you do the same for the Quest version as well!
Replacing your expressions will be similar to your locomotion, but we'll be navigating to the "2. Expressions" game object in the hierarchy (as seen above). You will want to also navigate to the "Assets/02 VRCFury customisations/2. Expressions" folder and replace your expressions with one of the following prefabs for the Hobkin or Dogkin: Standard, Classic, Original, or EasyCustom. Just drag and drop whichever prefab you'd prefer into the "2. Expressions" game object on the avatar in the hierarchy and you're done!
The different sets are as follows:
- Standard: Default and Lakesgeek's Arflin-inspired set. The ears wiggle when you’re happy and there’s two handed mapping.
- Classic: One Lakesgeek used on some old SDK3 avatars of his. Two handed mapping, but classic Hobkin expressions so ears to the side when happy for example.
- Original: Exactly as things were on the original Hobbert SDK2 Hobkin. One-handed mapping i.e. same expression set on both hands.
- EasyCustom: Standard, but you sacrifice left+right hand combo gestures in exchange for being much easier to remap to your liking. Remap them in the "Assets/02 VRCFury customisations/0. Supporting Files/Expressions Files" (Avatar) FX Expressions EasyCustom controller.
Miscellaneous Additions
These prefabs are included by default and most of them have toggles, but if you would like to remove them you can simply delete them off of your avatar under the "VRCFury/3. Misc" game object (as seen in the picture under the "hoodie" section) under your avatar in the hierarchy.
- Novelty Anims: Wiggle (your butt), Happy Hops, Float & Splat
- (Avatar) Nose Boop Hearts: React with a smile, blush, and hearts if you’re booped!
- (Avatar) Marker Pen: A marker you can pick from the extras menu and draw with your right index finger.
- Ear Pull Yelp: That thing where you yelp and make a face if someone pulls on your ear too hard.
- AFK Sign: Prefer your AFK animation without a sign lighting up? Delete this prefab.
- Moods: Gives you the ability to set different face expressions in the radial menu.
- Bracelets: If you don't want your neck and wrist bracelets, this gives you the option to toggle them off!
These prefabs are not included by default as they can use up a lot of parameter memory, but they are very easy to drag and drop onto the avatar under the "VRCFury/3. Misc" game object if you'd like! Navigate to the "Assets/02 VRCFury customisations/3. Misc (Clothing, accessories, anims etc)/Body Sliders" folder and you will see prefabs for various size and lighting sliders that can be added to your avatar. These prefabs will create a "Body Sliders" menu that will have radial sliders in your VRChat radial menu corresponding to the specific options you want.
Currently there are sliders for:
- Bigger Butt
- Chest
- Chubby Tummy
- Thicker Thighs
- Lighting Add
- This increases your base brightness, regardless of world lighting.
- Lighting Multiplier
- This takes the world lighting and increases how much it affects your avatar.
If you have any suggestions or requests for other options, let me know and I can add them to future releases!
When adding VRCFury prefabs into the Misc section, make sure the order of the prefabs is the same on both the PC and Quest versions of the avatars to avoid any desync and issues!
