"HoverCloud" is a vehicle gimmick designed for VRChat. It lets you ride atop a soft, fluffy cloud and move freely through the air. It is compatible with Modular Avatar for a quick and easy setup.

The Extended Version features a large cloud that can carry up to three people. Controlled via the VRChat Expression Menu, you can activate various features such as: Infinite Jump, Seats, Remote Control, Position Lock, Reset to World Origin, Rain, and Lightning.

Whether flying solo or with friends, enjoy a fresh perspective on your journey through the sky!

*The "Lightning" feature includes sound effects.

*Please use this gimmick responsibly and be mindful of others while enjoying its effects.

★ Requirements

  • Unity: (Confirmed working with 2022.3.22f1)
  • VRChat Creator Companion (VCC)
  • VRChat SDK: (Confirmed working with 3.10.1)
  • Modular Avatar: (Confirmed working with 1.15.1)
  • lilToon: (Confirmed working with 2.3.2)
  • Gesture Manager: (Confirmed working with 3.9.7)

Note: Using different versions may cause unexpected errors.

If you encounter issues, please try matching the versions listed above.


★ Supported Avatars

Compatible with most avatars. Since minimal adjustment is usually needed, there are no plans for individual pre-adjusted sets for other avatars.

Please refer to the "★ Installation Steps" if you wish to adjust the position yourself.

【Data Structure】 |Common| “CommonData”: Contains shared assets. Generally does not require modification.

|Small Cloud Version| “FS_AirJump”: Folder for the Small Cloud Version. Use the “FS_AirJump” file directly within this folder.

|Large Cloud Version| “HCS_HoverCloud”: Folder for the Large Cloud Version. Use the “HCS_HoverCloud” file directly within this folder.


★ Installation Steps

【Project Preparation】

  1. Install VRChat Creator Companion (VCC). Click "Create New Project" and select "Avatar." (Skip if you already have a project).
  2. In VCC, click "Manage Project." Search for and install "VRChat SDK" and "lilToon."
  3. Launch the project.

【Importing Data】

  1. Import your avatar data into the Unity project.
  2. Drag and drop the ".unitypackage" file downloaded from the shop.
  3. Ensure all items are checked and click "Import."
  4. Prefabs starting with "FS_" or "HCS_" are compatible with Modular Avatar.

【Attaching via Modular Avatar (MA)】

  1. Place your avatar into the Hierarchy.
  2. Drag and drop the MA-compatible prefab directly onto your avatar's root GameObject.

【About the Air Jump Gimmick】 The Air Jump is a special gimmick utilizing physics and collider collisions. Please note that since this relies on non-standard physics behavior, it may become unstable or unusable due to future VRChat updates. (Tested and working as of September 2025).


Known Issues & Troubleshooting:

  1. The avatar jumps but slowly drifts downward:
    • This is the intended behavior. We may update this if a more stable method becomes available.
  2. The avatar gets launched in an unintended direction:
    • If the collider does not properly enclose the avatar, you may be pushed or launched away.
    • Fix: Locate the jump colliders in "FS_AirJump/FlyingCollider" (Small Cloud) or "HCS_HoverCloud/AirJump" (Large Cloud). Adjust the Box Collider's size and position so that it completely encloses your avatar's feet.
    • For unique avatar shapes, try making the collider larger to cover more of the body.
    • Also, ensure the Position of the "Target" GameObject (found inside the collider object) is set to (0, 0, 0) for X, Y, and Z.
  3. The Air Jump is ON, but I cannot jump:
    • First, try the steps in point #2 above.
    • If it still doesn't work, select the collider object and ensure that "Is Trigger" in the Box Collider component is Unchecked. (It will not work if checked).
    • If the gimmick fails to work even after re-importing, a VRChat update may have disabled this functionality. In that case, please contact me via DM.

【Moving Seats (Large Cloud Version)】

The seat objects are located at: HCS_HoverCloud/WorldLockPos/ItemPos1/HCS_OnOff/HCS_Pos/Seat... To move the seat's location, adjust the Position values of these objects.


【Uploading】

  1. Press the Play button in Unity. Use the Gizmo to verify that the items are correctly attached and functioning.
  2. Upload via the VRChat SDK toolbar. (If warnings appear, clicking the "Fix" button will resolve most issues).
  3. Done! Enjoy!


★ Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues, please check the following items:

  • Unity Version: Created with Unity 2022.3.22f1. Please ensure your project version matches.
  • Pink Materials: If the materials appear pink, you need to install the "lilToon" shader.
  • Prefab Hierarchy: Do not change the hierarchy or names of the objects inside the Prefab, as this may cause the gimmick to malfunction.
  • Station Limit: VRChat allows a maximum of 6 Stations (seats) per avatar. Please check if your existing gimmicks exceed this limit.
  • World Origin (0,0,0): If your avatar is not at the World Origin (X:0, Y:0, Z:0) when importing or setting up the gimmick, it may cause unexpected behavior. Please place your avatar at the origin before uploading.
  • Avatar Parameters: VRChat has a limit on the number of avatar parameters (approx. 256 bits). Please ensure you have not exceeded this limit.
  • Sync Issues: If the display position becomes desynced, it can be fixed by reloading your avatar or rejoining the instance.
