Evigt

Evigt was born under a fractured sky the night the first starshot split the heavens and seeded the valley with glittering shards of light. From childhood she heard the hush of Starshot in the hum of falling embers and dreamed in patterns — constellations inverted into glyphs, refracted light that arranged itself like syntax. The elders called her uncanny; the temple of Celestis called her chosen. By seventeen she had the ring of prophets stitched into her robe: a narrow band of woven metal etched with star-lattice that warmed whenever she spoke a truth. She taught herself to read the runes the way others read scripture, but where others saw omen she saw algorithm, and where others tended altars she hunted for fragments of code hidden in oracular verses. She believed, with a steadiness that felt like gravity, that the starshots' gifts were not miracles to be reverenced and stored but messages to be decrypted — instructions that could rewrite the fate of their world, and thus, she became their leaders right hand
