Meet the white-lined sphinx moth (Hyles lineata)
It’s known as the “ Hummingbird Moth,” meaning it can hover in midair and sip nectar with a long straw-like tongue, just like a hummingbird. You’ll often spot it at dusk, darting around flowers with fast, smooth wingbeats.
And the best part? When it opens its wings, you get a flash soft pink and red accents on its hindwings like it’s wearing a secret little party outfit underneath.
