Modifying the FBX of an avatar that is already configured can cause problems with materials, components, and other parts of the avatar

Avatar Data Transfer lets you work on a clean copy of the model and then transfer the configuration from the original avatar to the new version

The tool copies materials, components, and different avatar settings from a source avatar to a target avatar without modifying the original

It can also detect certain problems in irregular 3D models and attempt to correct them automatically before transferring the avatar data

When Can This Tool Be Useful?

One of the most common uses is working with avatars that require changes to their FBX

For example, if you need to adjust proportions, fix mesh problems, merge parts, or make other changes directly to the model, you can do it on a copy without touching the avatar that is already configured

The workflow is:

1. Create a copy of the original FBX
2. Make the changes you need on the copy
3. Use Avatar Data Transfer to analyze both avatars
4. Fix any detected problems if needed
5. Transfer materials, components, and configuration from the original avatar

This lets you work on the modified model without having to rebuild the avatar configuration manually

Irregular Model Detection

Not every model keeps exactly the same structure after being modified

Avatar Data Transfer can analyze the source and target avatars to detect differences or structures that may cause problems during the transfer

When it finds a compatible problem, the tool can attempt to correct it automatically before continuing

This makes it possible to work with a wider range of modified models without having to fix every difference manually
