Fallen Star Ear Cuff — Orbiting Shards Lock into a Cuff for VRChat

Product Description

Four shards of a fallen star orbit your ear on a thin glowing ring, then gather and lock into a slim cracked-glass ear cuff — and break free again when you want.

▶ VRChat accessory · needs Modular Avatar (free, from VCC) · no lilToon needed · drag-and-drop prefab · both ears · PC

Black glass cut into flat facets, broken by glowing cracks. Each ear gets four shards: free, they circle the ear on a tilted ring of light; locked, they close into one slim band that follows the rim of the ear, with a seam of light where they meet.

ORBIT ⇄ LOCK (one menu toggle, 2.6 s each way)
Turn on "Lock" and the shards slow down, swing in one after another, overshoot a little and settle into the band; the seam lights up as the last one closes. Turn it off and the band breaks open and the shards drift back into orbit. Nothing jumps: every step moves.

ALWAYS MOVING (no menu, shader time)
• Orbit: the four shards circle each ear (one turn every 8 s)
• The light in the cracks breathes (every 3.5 s)
No extra parameters and no particle systems for any of it.

THE MENU (Expressions menu "Fallen Star Ear Cuff" · all remembered)
• On: on / off. The shards gather in (1 s) and break apart (0.7 s), never a jump
• Lock: orbit ⇄ locked cuff (2.6 s)
• Colour: Crimson / Violet Void / Tarnished Gold. The colours blend over 0.9 s
• Glow: a radial for the light in the cracks
• Size: a radial, 0.8x to 1.3x (starts at 1x), to fit your avatar's ears

3 COLOURS (all in one prefab, switched from the menu)
• Crimson: black glass with red cracks
• Violet Void: deep violet-black glass with violet cracks
• Tarnished Gold: smoked glass with tarnished-gold cracks

SIZES (measured in Unity, at 1x)
• Locked cuff: 2.6 cm long, 0.4 cm wide
• Orbit ring: 3.4 x 2.9 cm

HOW IT SITS
It follows the Head bone (Modular Avatar Bone Proxy), one cuff on each ear. The prefab is placed for an average head; move the "Cuffs" object or turn the Size dial if your avatar's ears are bigger, smaller or in a different place.

WHAT YOU GET
• FE_1.0.1.unitypackage: 1 prefab, 1 shader made for this cuff, 1 material, menu, animator (no textures)
• README in English and Japanese

PERFORMANCE (this item alone, measured in Unity)
• 1,344 triangles · 1 mesh · 1 material · no textures · no PhysBones · no particle systems · no lights
• Synced: 5 parameters, 26 bits
• VRChat SDK performance rank: PC Excellent

GOOD TO KNOW
• PC only: it uses its own shader, and Quest avatars can't use custom shaders.
• Needs Modular Avatar (free, from the VRChat Creator Companion). No lilToon needed.
• Needs a humanoid avatar (a Head bone).
• The glow looks best in worlds with bloom.

AI DISCLOSURE (AI-Assisted)
The code that builds this ear cuff (mesh, shader, Unity setup and animations) and the text on this page were written with help from an AI assistant. An AI image generator made rough concept sketches I looked at while designing; nothing it made is in the files or in the preview images, which are rendered in Unity from the actual prefab.
